In the real sense, those who have not converted, remain true to their
faith, their land, their gods, their spirits, ancestors are the real
tribals. They would not desecrate, but instead respect local customs,
gods, forests. These unonverted tribals like other Indians retain the
vedic spirit of tolerance, accomodation and inclusiveness. But as
the Kondh tribals have shown, even that is wearing thin, in the face
of extreme aggression against them and their land. The Kondh tribals
are a direct contrast to the converted Christian tribals of Nagland,
who provoked by their western masters -- the baptist church have been
waging a 50 year separatist war against India. Not content they have
been busy fighting against each other as well. You can see how the
whole societal/ethical structure of a community collapses when they
convert. Nagaland today could not even maintain their traditional
language, they have English as their state language. What a pity.
