YOu do not equalise the calibre of a city born fair looking boy or girl, educated in a Posh English medium school from LKG to 12th, with internet facilities, with almost daily tution, with special trainings in dance, music and other arts, or annual picnics and entertaintment shows on week end, with enough and more exposure to the latest developments with the calibre of a tribal or dalit boy of girl, with heavy famly responsiblities like taking care of younger ones, working in the field before leaving for that thatched roofed government school, with limitted number of teachers, with no tution of whatsoever, totaly occupied on all weekends, with no idea of computer, picnic, full meal, entertainment etc And both of them are called for an interview at the end of 12th standard.. for the same job... YOu said that Those who excel in the test/exam must be rewarded. No matter how it has been done.It is after all one's skill. The pity today is that the focus is only on bookish knoledge. These so called intellectuals are totally unfit for family life, social life or even adjustability in daily life. Above all, these are the lawmakers and law givers to the milions. The government is ready to allot quota system to the disadvantaged. This is not enough. There should be equal oportunity in studies and facilities whther it be a rural tribal school or posh ENglish schools. The ideal would be to equalise the possibilities of growth the children. This means, the best opportunities should be available to all children. This also means focus on Rural development. THen we do not need quotas anymore. No more scholarships. etc. Our Governemnt can do this. Just imagine that 60,000 crores they were ready to evade farmer's loan. Cant they allot that much for Rural schools? If there is a will, there is certainly a way. Withing 20 years, India will be very powerful only if we concentrate on SPecial treatement to educate children in rural areas or tribal areas. - Or else, we will end up with inequlaity, discrimination in all levels. - Nithiya __._,_.___
