Dear SaminaWhile i appreciate your concern about Muslim community in general, one should not justify rigidities / fundamentalist approach of one particular community because other community is performing certain religious functions in public. Hindus being a majority community, their religious functions may some times be more visible especially if held in public places, but that does not mean Hindus become fundamentalists. Hindu religion philosophy basically has been welcoming of other cultures, religion and has never opposed them violently as the History will vouch for it and the mixed and diversified Indian culture will speak for it. Even for that sake, Muslims perform Friday Namaz in public places/ roads out side the Masjids for the last several decades and no body has objected to it. All communities will have to learn to respect other religions and follow 'Live and let Live' both in letter and spirit. Like terrorists' attacks, any attacks or destruction of human life, public/private property, talk of separatism and or Azadi , for any justifiable reasons, by any religious or political group can not be supported or justified and are to be condemned by all right thinking persons. Sikh riots of Delhi, Demolition of Babri Masjid, burning of poor kar sevaks in the train followed by Godhara riots, recent attacks on Christians, Malegaon riots and most recently Dhulia riots and any state/police aristocracies are to be condemned by all right thinking persons and law should take its course to punish the guilty in an impartial way. TV and News media do try to expose any injustices in this regard. Also, one has to see as to why in most of the bomb explosions, members of one particular community are only accused, it can not be termed simply as prejudices of the state administration and wished away and or justified for any reasons.
One should not forget that Indian Muslim community has given educationists, jurists, politicians, warriors of high integrity and top positions in public life were also held by distinguished members of their community. Film industry is another fine example of religious harmony.
Also, modern/reformist/ muslim community will have to take an introspection and large scale frank inner discussions as so why they are educationally, economically, socially, employment wise backward and how fast the community can bring itself into the national/main stream instead of accusing other communities and /or their isolated non excusable acts or State administration. Personally,i feel that if religion is not mixed with politics, modern education participation of the community in general is improved without of course sacrificing personal religious beliefs, personal laws are modified keeping in view emerging socio-economic scenario, avoid self condemnation attitude or blaming Hindus or govt. for the backwardness of the community, both economic , education, lack of employment opportunities whether police,or military,or administrative or allied services , there is no reason why the community as a whole does not in due course become an equal partner in the national development.
Thanks and regards
