I agree with all you say but the result of displacement and its
consequences are due to mismanagement by the governments and
industrialists rather than industry itself.
It is true that JAL,JAMIN and JUNGLE are very dear to ADIBASI people
and have sustained them through the centuries but only at minimal
levels.
Even at places where there has been no industrialisation and
displacement they are poor with very little access to good
housing,education, health care and sanitation and has work only for
few months in a year. Rest of the year, they work as rickshaw pullers
and labourers but hardly as beggars as they are too proud for that.So
industrialisation is not the only reason for their plights.
It is much more fundamental and until they and the governments
realise, they will still be where they have been all these years.The
most important of them is EDUCATION, EDUCATION and EDUCATION and
EMPOWERMENT.
But industrialisation has an important role to play in the progress
and development of ADIBASI people and there is no reason why it can
not co exist with JAL, JAMIN and JUNGLE.
Only thing is some one has to stand up and make sure they are
resettled and rehabilitated in a proper way with adequate
