Maoist guerrillas Friday morning blew up the control room of a mobile phone tower in Jharkhand's Palamau district, the police said.
According to the police, about 20-30 rebels belonging to the Communist Party of India -Maoist (CPI-Maoist) blew up the control room and damaged the generator of Reliance India Mobile. Palamau district is around 210 km from here.
The Maoist guerrillas surrounded the control room of the mobile and asked the employees to vacate it.
After the control room was vacated, the Maoist rebels blasted the room using detonators. They also set the generator on fire.
In past one week, two school buildings were blown up by the rebels in Chatra and Palamau districts.
Maoist rebels are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state. In last seven years over 1,300 people, including civilians and Maoist rebels, have been killed.
