venkitesh, Well, that's what every "diku" (as the Adivasis disdainfully call the folks of your kind) would want to happen -- the ever-widening rift between Christian Adivasis and Sarna Adivasis in Jharkhand. What you call no involvement of social activists and human rights organizations, was indeed orchestrated by none other than your favourite Sangh Parivar. For all the hype, they could only herd in 5 or 6 thousand people in buses and light vehicles to Ranchi for the so-called Mahapanchayat on Oct 19. It was a BJP show all the way. Not a single constructive Adivasi issue, except for Christian bashing, was taken up at the meeting. The mojority Adivasis stayed away. They signed a 11-point agreement with the Christian Adivasis instead, clearly eschewing the so-call Sarna Dharm leaders you are elated about. The conflict is fast moving towards resolution. Yes, without any involvement of social activists and human rights organizations. Would you believe? And yes, the Christian Adivasis had profoundly apologized for the error on a number of occasions. Whoever said they did not admit the mistake? A civilized society would have acknowledged the apology. But no, the Sangh Parivar prodded some hard liners to reject it and stoked the hoo-haa instead. However, better sense prevailed upon the Adivasis at large. Both Christian and Sarna brethren know they are inseparably one. They live likewise in the villages. If you cannot see it or don't want to see the reality, it is your problem. |
