Dear Mr. Harijan Venkat, You are very fond of using the word Harijan instead of the scheduled caste. I have been reading your posts regularly. Scheduled castes dont like them to be called as Harijans.( you know that??) Can you please explain what is the ratoinale behind using this term only against the scheduled castes ? As far as I know the word Harijan means People of God ( Hari=God (Krishna),Jan=People). Then whoever believes in God or worships God can be called as Harijan, then why dont you call yourself a Hariajn, your mother a Harijan, your father a harijan ,your entire family, a family of Harijans. Dont you have faith in God /or are not you the people of God? What is wrong if I address you as harijan venkat! Is not it shameful on the part of a person who claims to be a research fellow to use such descriminatory terms without knowing its acual meaning and more so when it is irrational?. When such is the situation in this modern era what would have been the condition during and aftermath of "Manu", who wrote the Manusmriti.
