Fascism is more a mental subversion. Fascism in Germany rose by mentally subverting the youth into a false belief system which bordered on German (supposedly Aryan) supremacy. And the other most important facet is its totalitarian concepts.
Contrary to all beliefs, Hitler is a far , far less fascist than another ...ism. This theory, originally put forward as an economic theory, with focus on Roti , Kapda aur Makaan (food, clothes and shelter), did something disastrous to three continents ravaging humanity and destroying communities after another. It was about to destroy humanity itself, but fortunately, the mankind acted in a decisive manner to throw it out of birth place.
That 'ism' was and is Communism.
Let us look at its killing spree. Here are some statistics

Somewhere between 66 and 120 million people were killed by Russian alone and Chinese communists killed an equal or more number . But the worst damage was done in the Buddhist Cambodia, where an innocent people were 'revolutionised' and motivated to kill millions of their own people. Killings apart, the main damage they did was to subvert the human mind into submission to an ideology which was at once arrogant, archaic, and totalitatrian. You will wonder how such a deceptive brainwash worked for close to a century. George Orwell, in his social satire, Animal Farm , has clearly established how the dangerous system worked.
"All men are equal. But some are more than equal." This is one of the cornerstones of Communism. The Party and its core dictators are what are called the " more than equal people". Notice how the seeds of Fascism are deeply sown !.
Communism and India:
Communism in India has rather been a joke played on an enlightened population. They promised heaven on earth and did the reverse. They degraded Bengal and Kerala in such a way that there is widespread unemployment, crushing poverty and lawlessness to the maximum. Communists institutionalised Bandhs and strikes as a way of life in these places. Kerala saw 80 bandhs in the last year alone affecting the lives of crores of people.
Fascist roots: The average cadre of such parties, are always kept in the darkness about the future course of the movement. Always " Obey the top leadership" is the only slogan pumped into his ears. Clear Fascism !
Communism did another damage to the social fabric. This was the undoing of the patriotic spirit so carefully cultivated during the freedom struggle. In a span of four decades the Bengalis have been reduced to sheep. Once blind to the happenings around, now they are totally indifferent. Another tactics employed by them is to blame any nationalist upsurge as communalist one.
Here , a careful analysis is necessary. When I say nationalists , it automatically excludes the minorities, since their indoctrination makes them obedient to their faith and church first. So the nationalistic forces are always Hindu. This, is always irritating to the communists since such nationalism runs directly contradicting their theory of Fascistic slavism. While nationalism is a uniting, elevating one, communism has just the opposite aim.
But what, indeed, nationalism, especially Indian nationalism mean ? I will try to explain in another post.
