I do not want to exonerate anyone or pass a judgement in advance. All that I
am saying is that people should not be condemned in advance. They are to be
presumed guilty till proved innocent. So I consider unethical for lawyers
not to defend them or for medical doctors not to treat them.

Again, I do not want to enter into a controversy on who shot Mr Sharma. The
inquiry will find out whether he was shot from the back. As for whether all
the terrorists are Muslims, please read the August issue of Communalism
Combat. I am only speaking of the right of people to defend themselves. That
is why I congratulate Jamia Millia on their courage to go against the
pressure to declare them guilty in advance.
