Dear Kundan, Both Christian missionaries and Hindutva Outfits are botries.. I dont accept this argument.. Let's review their activities..
Activity of Missionaries: ------------------------- 1. The missionaries invade on the native culture of the tribals. the poor economic condition of the tribal people are exploited by the churches, that they build up an environment where those who convert gets all help, and those who dont convert is alienated from their own people who got converted. 2. The first condition for those who ready to convert to christianity is to denigrate their own god and culture. Long back, i heard that the tribals had the culture of not ploughing their land for three days in a year, and it was their religious cum cultural custom. The missionaries, tried to violate their customs, by asking the converts to plough on those restricted days.. I dont know the full details of these customs, but clearly, the church is behind in insulting and hurting much of the tribal customs.. 3. It is well known that the missionaries enjoyed full support of the beurocracy before and after independance.. Till the late 1980's the missionaries wielded heavy influence among the political and beurocracy circles, and using that they crafted many government policies that suited their agenda.. Activities of hindutva: ----------------------- The so called and so blamed hindutva forces became active and powerful only from the 1980's. Their main aim was to protect the tribals from the clutches of missionaries, and also to protect the tribal culture and customs. i hope, you would agree to the following points, w.r.t hindutva.. 1. None of the hindutva organisations denigrate the tribal culture.. Infact, they support the tribals in celebrating their own festivals, and follow their own culture. I have personally seen workers of VHP making arrangments for celebrating one of the tribal festival in tamilnadu. 2. The hindutva organisations have been serving the tribals in numerous ways.. i am listing some of those.. -->they provide basic education to the tribals, (eg: ekal vidyalaya).. --> every year they conduct sports activities for tribals from all over india. --> They provide medical service to the interiors of the tribal villages. I have personally went with one of the vanvasi workers, and saw him, giving first aid medicines to representative from each of the tribal villages.
