1. The past generations feared and respected the teachings of elders and preachings of the priests, and were not at all corrupt. I have seen several officials and senior executives preparing the income tax returns including even .10 or below received as dividends or refunds in their income. When I asked why don't you ignore these, I was told if we don't pay to exchequer the taxes how will the Govt. carry out development programmes? 2. Compare this with today's scene!! Sharad Pawar refused to buy the wheat of first quality from Punjab and Haryana at procurement prices lower than he was to get from the tainted, black-listed exporter from Australia- who was caught by Australian Govt. bribing Indian buyers and black listed anCBI asked to investigate the matter!! The visual media showed how over a million tonnes imported from Austrain firm were unfit for even cattle feed, with pests and worms crawling over the disintegrated grains and perhaps the kick back was also in millions again. He refused to buy local better quality wheat fresh from harvest at lower rates. Nobody explained why? Down the lines, the FCI officials and others who were handling the same at the ports and godowns resorted to corruption and are caught by CBI!! Their argument is " If the ministers make millions, let us make at least lakhs or thousands?" Corruption finds its way down from the top. the saying "Yadhaa Rajaa Thadhaa Prajaa" applies even today S kumar __._,_.___
